Christine Repp had entered the contest after seeing the “Win a $10,000 Room Make over by Nahid” ad in the Splurge Magazine. “I had only hoped that we could win the Make over contest but to actually win was an incredible surprise”, explained Christine Reep.

After Christine won, Nahid and the Design Source team went to work determining the priorities and strategies for the Repp’s living room. With the help of Stephanie Smith, Design Coordinator and Bert Conyers, Manager, the plan was put into action. The Repps have a large family; the team felt that the room needed a more spacious feel and additional seating. To solve the seating issue, benches replaced chairs at the dinning room table which allowed for extra seating at the table and the benches can be easily moved to the living room for extra seating while entertaining. In order to create an open feeling, many of the smaller “knick-knack” items were replaced with a few impact groupings. To add interest, accessories were overlapped rather than lined up. Other designer items such as a large round mirror in the dinning area facilitated more light and openness. It wasn’t only furniture and accessories that transformed the Repps living room according to Nahid. “Many of the simplest updates had the largest impact. Beautiful paint color on the wall, new rugs and enhanced lighting made the room warm and inviting”. All in all, it was an incredible transformation combining function and beauty, comfort and style and it was all by design. |
